Takano Mari
Mari Takano received her first piano lessons from her
mother at the age of three,
and began composing at the age of five.
She studied composition under Shishido Mutsuo at the Toho Gakuen School of Music.
After graduating, she studied composition with
Professor Brian Ferneyhough
at the graduate course of the Freiburg University of Music
(then West Germany),
then continued her studies with Professor György Ligeti at the
graduate course of the Hamburg University of Music
(then West Germany).
Through her encounter with her teacher György Ligeti,
she developed and
established her own original
style of composition,
and continues to work
as a composer.
About
In the 1980s, she won prizes at composition competitions both in Japan and abroad, and through her encounter with her teacher György Ligeti, she developed and established her own original style of composition.
